Detroit Youth Volume Violin Art Auction Performance

Detroit Youth Volume Violin Art Auction performance

Detroit Youth Volume raised money for scholarships by auctioning beyond-repair instruments made into home decor by local artists! Students performed Suzuki pieces amid the display of violin art. The auction raised $3,500 from the sale of 21 art pieces! Photo by Barbara Barefield.

Detroit Public Library Performance

Detroit Public Library performance

Detroit Youth Volume’s final show was held in the Children’s Library of the Detroit Public Library Main Branch located in the city’s arts district. Suzuki teacher Ashley Nelson looks on as student Chase Wiley checks out the program. Guest teacher and beatboxer Walter T. Lacey rehearses with the Pre-Twinklers in the background. Also pictured is a group class with guest artist Darrell “Red” Campbell working on harmonies.

Have a great picture to share? We are looking for photos of students performing in their community. Did you invite the neighborhood to a book recital? Or the general public to a group concert? Have you played in an assisted living facility, street fair, or mall? Submit your own picture or ???
