The ballot process is for the selection of new SAA Board members for terms to begin August 1, 2009. Only Active level, current members are eligible to vote. This year’s board ballot will be made available online soon. If you have not been able to attend a Leadership Retreat sponsored by the SAA, then you are in for a real treat. You will definitely be able to attend this year’s retreat with no travel expense, a small fee, and unlimited time for you to partake in the offerings.
The first ever Virtual Leadership Retreat is being held the entire month of April. See below how the SAA Board feels about the Retreat and perhaps they can entice you to be a part of this remarkable experience.
The Annual Meeting will be held at the SAA Office, 2465 Central Ave., Boulder, CO on Saturday, April 4, at 5:30 pm Central time. Revising Suzuki Piano Books 5-7
The International Suzuki Piano Committee, working with Mr. E.L. Lancaster of Alfred Music Company, met in Boulder, CO, in November 2008 to begin work on revisions to Suzuki Piano Method Books 4-7. History was made for Suzuki Piano as a result of our decisions for the revisions of these books. All five regions of the ISA (SAA, ESA, PPSA, TERI and ASA) voted in favor of changes and additions to the repertoire to provide greater stylistic variety to the Suzuki Piano Repertoire. SAA Teacher Trainers are very excited about the changes and look forward to the publication of these new books.
Actual editing by the committee has not begun for Books 6 and 7 and Book 5 is not yet complete. Further work by the International Committee will take place in July 2009 and the new official recordings by Mr. Seizo Azuma will be completed soon thereafter.
Call for Digital Photos & Videos
The SAA would like to extend an invitation to all members to submit high-quality digital photographs and/or short high-quality digital video clips of student performances and activities. Submissions would be considered for inclusion in various projects that the SAA is involved in. To be considered the guidelines below would have to be followed closely.
ASTA, Guitar, and Flute Web Ads
Exciting news! The SAA has and ad on the American String Teachers Association website, www.astaweb.com , the Guitar Foundation website, www.guitarfoundation.org , and the National Flute Association website, www.nfaonline.org , for the months of January, February, and March. All are revolving ads on the pages of each website—you may need to refresh the page a number of times to see the SAA ad. Our Summer Institute logo ad banner link takes you directly to Suzuki event listings sponsored by the SAA. What a great way to reach millions of teachers! We have already seen a number of people visiting our website from these ads. Check it out!
Chapters and Group Members: Send Your Event Announcements
Chapter Affiliates and SAA group members can submit local event announcements for posting on the SAA website events section. This is a great way to reach more people in your area and achieve greater visibility. Send your announcements to firstname.lastname@example.org to get them listed.
Attention, Chapters! We need your participation in the Virtual Retreat. Let us know how your group would like to be featured. Email email@example.com with your thoughts.
