Conference Sessions

Sessions

We’ve got most of the conference session abstracts online—there are more than 130 sessions on the slate!

Topics include Bach and Baroque, Child Development, Outreach, Parent Education, Reading and Theory, Studio Management, Suzuki Heritage, Teens, and all Suzuki instrument areas.

You can browse by topic, instrument, or presenter to find your must-see events.

Session and Presenter Details

When to Arrive and Depart

Schedule pick-up begins Thursday, May 24 at 5 pm. Some “warm-up” session will begin that evening.

Most sessions begin on Friday, May 25, at 8:30 am.

All events conclude by 11:45 am on Monday, May 28.

If you don’t want to miss anything, plan to arrive by Thursday afternoon, May 24, and leave Monday afternoon, May 28.

Hotel & Airline Rates

Hilton

Special discounted hotel rates are available at the Minneapolis Hilton from May 22-30. Rooms for SAA Conference guests start at $103 per night.

Register early to reserve your preferred accommodations. Hotel reservations with Suzuki discount closes on May 3. Hilton guests also get a $20 discount on conference registration.

A Star for St. Rafael

Stephen is a very special little boy. He’s cute as a button and has so much energy that it’s hard for any ordinary human being to keep up with him. He’s fascinated with elevators and, if left to his own devices, would ride from floor to floor for hours at a time.

There are other things that make Stephen special that aren’t quite so charming. At five, his language is almost indiscernible. Stephen has been diagnosed with an aural processing disorder. That means that there are errors in the neural connections that carry signals from his ears to his brain to his vocal chords. There are other things. Learning environments for Stephen must be totally devoid of distractions—white walls, blinds closed, nothing on the walls—because Stephen has difficulty focusing on a teaching point. It’s not that he’s distractible or is unable to focus; Stephen focuses on everything. Objects intrigue him while concepts elude him.
