Scholarship Opportunities

Through support from generous donors, the SAA continues to grow its scholarship offerings each year. Scholarships are designated primarily for unit course trainings (Units 1–10) both online and in person. A limited number of scholarships are also available to support Suzuki teacher training through long-term SAA-approved university programs. For scholarships to attend courses in North America the application deadline is February 4 each year. Awards start at $300 and are paid to the course director or event sponsor.

The application process requires SAA membership, a video performance (as specified in the application), letters of recommendation, and a statement of need. For details and application forms for North American training courses, go to suzukiassociation.org/teachers/training/scholarship. Deadlines for Latin American scholarships are January 1, April 1, and October 1. For a Latin American application, go to suzukiassociation.org/teachers/training/scholarship-es.

AMERICAN SUZUKI JOURNAL NEWS

Welcome Allie Reed—New Editor for the American Suzuki Journal

Allie Reed Croped

Hi, everyone! I’m Allie, the new editor of the American Suzuki Journal. I’m a senior English major at Brown University, where I will graduate with honors this spring. I’m a Suzuki violin student and “faculty brat” myself, so I’ve been immersed in the Suzuki method as long as I can remember. When I’m not editing the journal, I’m a Boston-based freelance journalist.

I’m looking forward to working with and getting to know all of you better, and am eager to collect submissions for our journal. If you’re a teacher, parent, or student with an idea for an article, please reach out to me at: allie@suzukiassociation.org.
