Has anyone else here purchased Magnetic Chips from Young Musicians Online (https://www.young-musicians.com/magnetic-chips.html) and been disappointed that they are not actually magnets?

They only have a thin metal wire on the edge so that a magnet will pick them up. By the description, I thought they would work on a staff on a metal board like magnets.

Do any of you use them? How? Can they be magnetized?

Thanks for your ideas!

Yes I use them for note reading. Theyre good in the fact that you can use them on a magnetic board and see the staff through.

I use the magnetic magic wands, to clear them up at the end. which the children love.

So youre right they are a let down when you realise they arent magnetic themselves!!

So the BOARD is the part that is a magnet? Is that this one? https://www.young-musicians.com/e-z-notes-magnetic-note-board.html After finding out the magnetic chips are not magnets, I’m really not sure whether this “magnetic board” is! :)

I was planning to use them for note reading, but on a plain metal board to which magnets would stick. If they make a board which is a magnet I might just have to get one of those. I didn’t want to have to use them on a flat surface.

Thanks.

Yes I was the same I wanted to use them so i could hold up the board and show a small group. Instead we have to do it on the floor which is ok for the kids but I don’t like getting down on the floor really!!!
You’re right in saying they’re not magnetic so the description is incorrect. I think I’m going to contact the shop about them.thank you! NTE

Hi Nelly,

I did make an inquiry re the magnetic note board, and commented on the chips. I didn’t get an answer about the board—but I’m guessing it’s the notes that are magnets in this case—but they did offer to refund me for the chips. The name is as it came from the manufacturer.

Thanks.
