I am a long time Suzuki student, teacher, and parent. I am wondering if there could be a forum or link for teachers who are looking for students, or a position in a school due to a potential re-location? Your forums are extremely helpful and this small addition would, I think, be wonderful. What do you think?

Well the Suzuki Association site does have the find a teacher feature: https://suzukiassociation.org/teachers/teacherloc/

Or did you have something else in mind?

Teachers who are re-locating or considering re-location might benefit from local area contacts, in order to obtain new students in their new location. The existing teacher finder is great for parents and students! My idea was more of a “student finder” or the like. Music schools who are looking for teachers typically post job listings, but “teacher available, seeking students” might be useful? Many times re-location happens and teachers have to begin from the “ground up” unless they already have contacts.

That’s very true. It could be very helpful to the teacher who has to move. Have to start completely over would be a massive task.

For argument’s sake…. a search engine like that would require constant attention. Consider all the people who contact you totally enthused about taking lessons. And then consider what a small percentage actually end up signing up for lessons once they realize what kind of work is involved. A database would have to be continuously updated as to who is moving where, who wants students, and students who want teachers.

In terms of searches, a teacher is a more consistent entity. Therefore, it is much easier to keep an accurate list of them. Students, much less ones who are in the market for a teacher, are in a constant state of flux. Not to mention a teacher who may not want students one month may need more the next. So there would have to be a strict set of guidelines as to who is included on the list. Otherwise, every teacher theoretically is in the market for more students.
