Hello—This is my first time to post. I hope I am doing it right.
I am interested in how much Suzuki Teachers charge for a 30, 45 and hour lesson in southwest USA. I am from the Fort Worth/ Dallas area—Texas.
Thanks!

I am not from that area, so I can’t comment on that except that when my niece was living in the Fort Worth/Dallas area about 20 years ago, she was in a program called Orchestra Hall. I believe it was run by Suzuki teachers. You could look that up and see if it is still there and do some rate checking that way.

Rates are a hard thing to settle on. Some things to consider when you’re determining a rate is that your lessons need to cover at least your costs for strings, teaching materials, ongoing training, (whether that’s done in a yearly institute or private lessons or both—continued training is vital to your own teaching) then of course you need to make enough to pay the bills etc.

You could probably just go to the website for the Texas Suzuki Association and call some teachers listed on there and ask their rates to get an idea of an average rate for the area.

Thank you so much! I live in a small town close to Ft. Worth, but lived in Ft.Worth about 20 years ago—so I am familiar with Orchestra Hall. I hadn’t thought about contacting them, until you mentioned it. I was also not aware that there is a Texas Suzuki Association. Your help is greatly appreciated!

I don’t know if this will be of any help. Several years ago I did an informal survey online, with teachers on here as well as a number of other string related forums. Please see:

The (hourly) rates in Texas appear to have been:

  1. US: TX $30.00
  2. US: TX $30.00
  3. US: TX $44.00
  4. US: TX, Austin $35.00
  5. US: TX, Dallas $34.00
  6. US: TX, Fort Worth $50.00
