I’m looking for ideas for a beginning of the year review challenge to give my studio a kick start. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I had my house cleaned, put in a garden, adopted a new kitten, bought a lot of houseplants and got an Edirol R-09HR to record students. This is much easier than the old laptop/Audacity combination that I was using. See:

There is a little bit of a learning curve (for me, anyway), but this makes beautiful, clear and professional MP3 files. Be sure to set the recorder on MP3 files; most variations of the Twinkle and pieces in Suzuki book 1 are around 15MG. Most webpages and email services will let you send or download files of up to 25MG. If you set it to .wav file, it will be more than that.

So after every lesson I can send students their MP3’s and let them listen to them. Takes only a minute or so to download them from the recorder. Parents can send them to grandparents, and it’s just a great thing.
