Does string playing affect your hand growth/size?

My son is doing a science experiment on whether or not playing a string instrument affects your hand growth? He is mainly dealing with if it stimulates the left hand to grow longer.

We would love it you could answer the questions below for us!

Please measure the difference in the height of your middle difference in mm. Place your palms together with fingers straight up like in a “praying” position.

Which finger was longer?
What was the difference?
Are you right or left handed?
What instrument or instruments do you play?
From what age to what age did you or do you play?
What age group are you in?

I appreciate you all for doing this! I think the results will be interesting I will post them when he is finished. My son has been playing violin for 6 1/2 years and is finishing book 6.

After several of my children have had oral appliances to stimulate growth in their lower jaws during high growing times, I think it will be interesting to see if playing has had the same influence on string players hands.
