Hi, My eight-year old son has been studying Suzuki piano for three years, enjoys it and wants to continue with it. He also has shown remarkable talent with improvisation. I want to encourage that too. Does anyone know of a piano/keyboard :?: improvisation teacher or program in Northern Virginia? Thanks. ~S

I don’t know of a teacher, but check out Musical Improvisation for Children by Alice Kay Kanack. Published by Summy-Birchard. I went to a workshop of hers, and it was great. The book comes with a CD and you can use it at home as a parent. I have played improv for many years but was unsure how to teach it, and this has helped a lot. My students are already doing great with it. Maybe your teacher would use it too.
