I am an adult lerner who just turned 19. I have been learning for the past nine monthsand i love the violin. I have reached gavotte from mignon in book 2. Even though my teacher is very particular about getting pieces right, I was wondering if my progress is too slow and if maybe i didnt have an apptitude for the instrument. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Nine months and getting into mid-Book 2 sounds just fine to me! Don’t have time just now for details but it doesn’t sound too slow.

Just a question—does it matter whether you have an aptitude for the instrument or not?

I’m jealous!!! I want to learn the violin!

What an inspiration you are. If you keep up with it and progress steadily onward you will become a violinist!! Just think you will become an accomplished musician.

I think you are doing a fantastic job for only nine months of lessons. Like what the other poster said, enjoy the moment. Take the time to review pieces. Be patient and perfect each piece. Continue onward when your teacher says you’re ready.

How exciting for you! Congratulations with your accomplishments!
