Baseball and Suzuki

My 11 year old son is a talented baseball player as well as violinist. He started working with a specialized hitting and pitching coach this week to help him get to the next level of competition. As his first lesson was reaching a conclusion, he asked my son, “Do you see how everything we’ve worked on today revolves around follow-through?” He turned to me and said, “This is how I teach every lesson—I call it the ‘One Point Lesson.’” Viva Suzuki! Interestingly enough, his wife is a musician and teaches band in the public schools.

Neat! It works for everything….

At one point, I saw an art teacher figure out how to teach visual art a la Suzuki. It was really great. (”Let’s do our circles for the faces again…”)
