How many recitals do you have per year?

I have two recitals each year. One near Christmas

(usually the end of November), and another at the end of the school year which is in June here.

So far the

“program” of kids participating (sp?), has mostly been my “traditionally taught” piano students, as all except one

of my violin students, haven’t been far enough along to perform anything.

I’m looking forward to the

June recital that’s coming up though, as they will all be able to do something. (Even if it means the youngest

will play the E or A string Concerto)

That’s a difference between traditional students

and Suzuki students. My Suzuki kids are ready to perform a recital anytime while my traditional kids work for

months to learn and perform one song. With all my traditional kids (except on teenage transfer) I have them do

listening and review just like the Suzuki kids and this has turned out to be great for their playing and

I have one “end of the year” recital in June. All

of my students play in this recital.
I also belong to a state music association where my students also play

in recitals and festivals throughout the year. If a student wants to, they can play in as many as 6 recitals, not

including our studio recital at the end of the year.

Three each year for me. I am part of a University

community music school, and the univ. is on the quarter system, so it works out that our recitals are in Dec.,

March, and June. I think it’s a really good number of recitals for performing. Growing up, I was only in 1-2

recitals each year, but I see how well my students do with 3.

I teach at an academy that hosts two recitals each

year. One is in November/December and one is in June. In order to prepare students participating in our city’s

music festival, I also host one in February with other local teachers, for the students participating in the
