It was a paradigm change for me when I learned this about children: “Resistance is their job!”

I discuss three common ways kids resist us in this article: Resistance Is Their Job. Each one has practical things to do and say to better deal with the resistance, including classroom strategies.

I had to use these techniques more this year than ever, since I was teaching in a local neighborhood house for underserved kids. The behavior issues needed a high degree of focus, and these techniques had a profound effect on a very behaviorally challenged class.

Happy practicing,

This is very useful. Will also share this with my team of teachers who specialize in coaching violin lessons for kids. Thank you!
