I’m asking for a friend, as I did this 12 years ago and can’t remember.

When and how do you find out your teacher training audition was acceptable? Do you have to wait until after it’s approved to try to sign up for your first year teacher training?

Thanks!

No, you can sign up with Audition pending HOWEVER their are deadlines for when it must be submitted prior to the date of the start of your training.

I highly recommend that you sign up as soon as possible, I know my book 1 is filling fast in both instruments we are offering. Talk to the Institute director and find out their policy if you have to cancel. I believe you are notified via email if you pass.

I submitted two auditions online in 2014 and in both cases got the acceptance email the next morning. The reviewers were really fast!

Wow, that is fast. Mine didn’t go that fast, but that was over 15 years ago.

Does the audition “expire” at any point in time? I did so several years ago, and haven’t taken a Course in a number of years but would like to. I need Book 4 next, and I think my earlier audition included that level.

No, it doesn’t expire. I had a 10 year gap between book 3 and 4. I had signed up for book 4 in 2001 and it got canceled, but then babies happened and it took me 10 years to finally be able to take book 4. That was 3 -4 years ago.

My training is old. I am registered up through book 8. Do I need to submit a tape for books 9-10?

Along the same lines—Several years ago I was awarded an SAA teacher training scholarship to take books 2-3 training. The audition tape I sent for the scholarship was of Mozart V, mvt 1, but previously my SAA audition had been for book 4. Do I need to send in a new tape if I want to take training for later books this summer?

Hi all,

Please direct any specific audition questions to [javascript protected email address]. We will be better able to assist you with your specific circumstance this way!

And definitely check with the office if your audition was before 2001, because you may have to submit it again as the SAA changed guidelines that year.

Thanks!
