I’m very disappointed. I just downloaded the Suzuki Viola Volume 1 book and cd from iTunes. Thought I’d check out a product I’m recommending to parents. There’s no Twinkle triplet variation!!! What gives? Anyone know if this will be changed anytime soon?

Our viola students are very lucky. We have French Folk Song, which all of my students absolutely adore.

Out of interest, does a fast triplet variation lead to anything in the first 3 viola books? I suppose that you could play triplets against any of the piano accompaniments.

What does bother me is that the Theme is so fast.

The cds never contain all of the Twinkle variations that I teach and have the students make up…I have never found it to be a problem. In fact, I think it helps because then I can make up as many Twinkle variations as I need or want and if someone complains, I can show them that not every Twinkle is on the recording. (My favorites for technique are Minuet Twinkle, Happy Farmer Twinkle, Chorus Twinkle and Waltz Twinkle, though I also like some my students have come up with like “Chocolate Ice Cream” and “Lemonade Peanut Butter.”) Besides, you could always record your own.

I don’t think the Viola CD has triplet variations, either. Wouldn’t the iTunes download just be a copy of what’s on the CD?
