I have been playing violin for 1.5 years. I am currently on Suzuki Book 4. Is this considered a fast or slow pace for learning the violin?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this. Much depends on the student.

1.5 years I would say is very fast if the student had never played before. It would be very fast even if the student practiced daily.

It’s a personal opinion but I would even go so far as to say it is moving “too fast.” Enough time needs to go by to allow certain motor skills to sink in. Working through the Suzuki repertoire is supposed to be a study of skill mastery, not a race.
