I have twin girls that will be 4 in 2 weeks. They just started lessons and are just “graduating” from their box. I got them fitted for real violins last week and they both got 1/32 size. For one of my twins, it’s great and fits perfectly. For the other (who is smaller) the violin is just too big!

The shop we went to (and the others that I’ve called) do not have a 1/64 size. We prefer renting but if we have to buy we will. Any suggestions? It’s just so small!

I may be wrong, but I believe the smallest is a 1/32 size. If she REALLY doesn’t fit, perhaps she may need to stay in the box a little longer. Really, this is something your teacher should help you with. Go to him/her and they will be able to make the judgement call as to what to do with her.

Try Robertson Violins in Albuquerque. They do ship, but I don’t know how small their rentals are.

Good luck!

YES! You can Absolutely rent or buy a 1/64th size violin from my store. www.YourMusicSupply.com. The brand is Stentor and I have been very happy with this violin for my little ones. I have one right now… brand new…. in stock. It has 4 fine tuners and is easy to tune. To rent, it is $25/ a month. To purchase it is $250.00. Here is a link to the description of the violin

And here is the link to a You Tube Video where you can hear the good tonal quality.

Thanks! Laura, I did buy a Stentor 1400 but I paid $159 for it. I think it’s the same as what you’re selling? I just can’t justify paying more when she will probably only get halfway through her twinkles before needing a 1/32.

Thanks everyone—the violin arrives today. I’ll post a photo of my little one holding it. :)

haha—Rebecca, I truly understand what you mean about using the small violin for a little while only. My youngest boy only used his 1/32 for 4mths after starting starting formal lessons and moved onto the 1/16. The good thing though was that we already bought the 1/32 a year before he started lessons so he had some fun with that violin already. And it cost S$90 (yes, singapore dollars) and is a pretty good violin. We’re keeping it for the possibility of letting our older kids’ kids play on it next time? haha—sure quite a long wait.

That Stentor sounds good, Laura! What strings did you say you use? Red something?

Thank you Phankao, The strings used to be “red label” I don’t put them on but they came with them from the distributor. Now though, I think they use “Merono” strings and I plan to stock this brand of “tiny” strings in the near future.

I haven’t heard of Merono Strings and can’t find any info on them online?
