Hi all,

Just finished my twinkle, book 1, book 2 and book 3 practice charts (until I decide to change :-)). Would love your feedback! This is my first time uploading a word doc to the website, so we’ll see if you can even open it. By the way, feel free to use as it is helpful, also. They’re for violin rep.

Thanks!
Nora

oh, by the way, I really like what i put together, but just to be clear, I got a lot of help from looking at other people’s practice charts on line, and have found so much amazing stuff at the thepracticeshoppe.com, and just poking around the internet. Also got lots of stuff from Ed Sprunger’s summer institute class. thanks!

The practice charts look extraordinarily helpful! Thanks for putting them together. One question: What is dribbling?

Thanks.

They don’t load up on my computer—any chance of making them into .pdf files? I’d love to see them!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes! please post them anywhere. I didn’t make them up, just spent the time coalescing, so I don’t feel proprietary at all :-) “Dribbling”: a suggestion from Ed Sprunger for his book 3 students. It’s bouncing the bow on the string by just turning the wrist, with added twists when he sees fit. He has students do this every day. Good for physical control, for loose wrist, for contact, etc. I will let you know how it goes, as I haven’t taught it yet.

Here they are in pdf. I actually think I’m about to add some stuff though… but for now:

Thanks! I got them now. I’ll add them to my review notebook collection along with Leslie’s forms.

The dribbling exercise sounds like something I found in Simon Fisher’s Basics book in the section about learning spiccato. It’s a great exercise for teaching students to let go of trying to “control” the bow during spiccato and learning to feel the springiness in the bow hair and stick.

I have the PDFs on the Practice Shoppe for future use. The Word files are there as well under the Files, but the link isn’t working for them. If anyone else has practice chart ideas I’d love them!

I’ve also just added my new practice charts for Book 1 where I add all the pieces because I expect them to play them all every day. One for the first half of book 1, and one for the second half of book 1. Sorry, I have violin only, but other instruments could make their own with their pieces. I’d be happy to put them online as well.
