My daughter’s three quarter through Suzuki Piano book 1 and it’s all by rote & memory although I must say I now get why Dr. Suzuki is advocating this method.

Having said that I was wondering if those with previous experiences can share when is the right time to get started on sight reading?

How old is your child? My child started a very simple note reading book right alongside book 1, but he was 5 1/2 when he started. His peers that started younger, started learning to read at age 5-6 too.

Is there a general theory on when sight reading should be introduced?
