Does anyone use a Mac small business accounting software they would recommend? I’ve been using Quicken for Mac 2005, but am considering an upgrade to a less personal finance—more small business accounting software. The ability to create receipts would be beneficial. This is for a studio of approximately 45-students.

Hi Patty,

It isn’t exactly accounting software, but have you looked at Music Teacher’s Helper? It’s an online subscription service which includes keeping track of expenses and income, automatic invoicing, and you can even set it up for online payment if you wish.

I was just looking for a free website, which MTH features, but after trying the paid subscription (they have a 30 day free trial) decided it was a good fit for me and my studio. For my small studio (up to 20 students) I pay $14 a month, for up to 40 students the cost is $29, and for over 40 students (unlimited) the cost is $49 a month. It also manages my calendar, lending library, sends automatic reminders to students, etc.

There’s a link to their website in my signature below if you’re interested in more details. My website is cello.musicteachershelper.com if you’d like to see a sample website. They have several templates to choose from and they are very easy to set up.

Thanks Barb,
Great suggestion!
And I love your website. Does the MTH do that in addition to the accounting?
