Hi y’all! I have learned so much from your sharing, thank you! I love the Suzuki community! My latest favorite new idea I learned here is to have the recalcitrant practicers text me every day after their practice. What fun, it WORKS!
I saw somewhere some clever words to Etude with peanut butter sandwiches. I can’t find it, would you please repost it? It also had pictures for non-readers. I love having the students sing this before getting to the piece, so that the repetitive sections are ‘chunked’ into their memory. I don’t usually use words to teach pieces, but sometimes it works beautifully.
Here are my words to the middle part of 2 Grenadiers. All lines start up bow, each of the seven ‘chocolate’ words is a hooked bow. And then, of course, you can imagine the reward… Dr Suzuki loved his chocolate points!:o)
Those chocolate candies haunting me
those chocolate chocolate kiss-(lift) es
They are yummy chocolate, seven chocolate,
creamy milk chocolate candies
With chocolate helping me to practice,
I’ll sound really good tomorrow!

The Practice Shoppe is also the only place where I’ve found see-through tempo tape and a cool squishy frog ball. :o)
