Hi Everyone,
Every month I feature a different piece of music (approx 10 minutes long or two shorter ones) in my studio for my students to listen to in addition to their Suzuki CD’s. I’m looking for some extra inspiration. What are your favourite pieces? I teach violin by the way so I like to use pieces that feature or include the violin but I throw in other pieces as well.
These are the pieces I’ve featured so far:
Vivaldi—Autumn
Grieg—In the Hall of the Mountain King
Prokofiev—Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet
Mozart—Eine kleine Nachtmusik
Bach—Christmas Oratorio Part 1
Monteverdi—Pur ti miro—from Coronation of Poppea
Mozart—Papageno, Papagena duet from Magic Flute
Beethoven—Symphony no. 3
Rimsky-Korsakov—Russian Easter Overture
Bach—Prelude and Gavotte en Rondeau from Partita no. 3
Saint-Saens—Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso
Copeland—Hoedown from Rodeo
Barber—Adagio for Strings
Bizet—Los Toreadors—from Carmen
Rossini—Overture to The Barber of Seville
Dvorak—Symphony no. 9, 4th mvt
Haydn—Surprise symphony no. 94, 2nd mvt
Vivaldi—La Folia

I’d love to hear your favourites and get some more ideas. Thanks!
