Thank you to all who participated and entered the Suzuki Student Writing Contest. We received more than 50 entries, and each one was a joy to read. It’s magnificent to see some of the many talents of Suzuki students on display.
Many thanks also to parents and teachers who promoted the contest and assisted students in preparing their entries.
We are proud to announce the winners and finalists of the 2011 Suzuki Student Writing Contest.
The SAA would like your students’ nonfiction and poetry submissions for upcoming publications! Winning selections may appear in the SAA Minijournal, on the SAA website, or in other SAA publications. Entries are due April 15, 2011.
Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Lucky winners of the Essay Contest sponsored by Thomastik were Ann Montzka-Smelser and Hannah Frey. Congratulations to Ann and Hannah. They are receiving a set of strings from Thomastik. Their essays, both on the topic of “Tone” will be featured in the Summer 2009 SAA Minijournal. In addition, Christina Brose-Morton was named Runner-Up. Her essay on “Teamwork” will also appear in the Minijournal. Thanks to all who entered the contest and to our VLR Sponsor Thomastik.
Thomasitk-Infeld, a VLR sponsor, is offering a prize to the two winners of a special VLR Essay Contest. If you are one of the lucky winners, you’ll be able to choose a full set of any strings Thomastik offers (violin, viola, cello, or bass only). PLUS, the SAA will include the two winning essays and possibly one or more runners-up in the 2009 Minijournal, our institute mini-magazine that reaches over 12,000 readers.
The SAA is pleased to have several outlets available for sharing information, help, and inspiration with members. In addition to the ASJ, now in its 37th year of publication, we now have a monthly newsletter and an expanding, informative website. We encourage you to consider submitting articles for new and seasoned teachers, parents, and students. Articles can be news, both local and international, teaching ideas, Suzuki parenting ideas, philosophy, research, opinion pieces, poetry, biography—the range is wide.
