Mrs. Susan D. Mutter

Piano Teacher SAA Member

Mrs. Mutter has been playing piano and French horn since childhood. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University. As a hornist she has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony, the Michigan Opera Theater Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony. She has Suzuki training up through Bk. 3 in piano and has been teaching Suzuki Piano for 25 years. She began teaching autistic children piano in 2006, as well as neuro-typical children, and now teaches 6 autistic children and about 30 neuro-typical children. She also teaches music theory classes and conducts an orchestra at Suzuki Royal Oak, Institute of Music. She was Assistant Director at Suzuki Royal Oak’s Carnegie Hall performance in 2010. Also, as a Suzuki parent of 3 children, she has enjoyed seeing their own children grow up to play well and to love music.
