Dr. Richard Dorfer

Violin, Viola Teacher SAA Member

Violinist Dr. Rick Dorfer currently resides in Vancouver, Canada, where he has quickly established himself as a performer, adjudicator and pedagogue. Rick is a member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and also enjoys a variety of freelance opportunities, including recording sessions and new music performances. As an educator, Rick maintains an extensive teaching studio, is a conductor with the Surrey Youth Orchestra and leads their chamber music program. He regularly appears on faculty at Suzuki Institutes in Western Canada and is sought after for masterclasses and festival adjudicating. Rick’s post graduate training included an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School and culminated in a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Washington. Being a recipient of a SAA scholarship enabled Rick to receive extensive Suzuki teacher training that has brought him the opportunity to learn from many of SAA’s highly respected teacher trainers.
