I started violin lessons in the Lafayette, Indiana public school system at age 10. My older sister played the violin but gave it up after a few years and the violin was just laying around, needing a friend. My first teacher was Mr. David Bernhart, a wonderfully kind man that instilled in me a love for music. I continued playing through high school at Lafayette Jefferson under Mr. William Dick.

With a Bachelor’s Degree from Ball State University and a Master’s Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, studying Special Education and Early Childhood Special Education, I have extensive experience working with young children and see my gifts as connecting with children of all ages, and abilities.

My oldest daughter, now 25, was the instigator of my Suzuki journey. She longed to play the violin. My own private violin teacher told me of a school in town that taught the Suzuki method to young children. Through my daughter’s experience I was led to studying and teaching the Suzuki method and loving the beauty of what goes into to teaching the Suzuki philosophy. Not only are children learning proper technique on the instrument, they are learning to develop strong character through hard work, perseverance, diligence and the joy of doing something well.

I live in Indianapolis, IN with my husband of 31 years. We have 3 grown children.
