Irene Wade has been teaching in Memphis since 1981. She received a high school diploma from NC School of the Arts, attended Oberlin College & Conservatory, and received a BM with distinction in Viola Performance from Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester). While completing a master’s degree at Univ. of NE, Lincoln, she was Principal Viola in the Lincoln Symphony and played with the Omaha Symphony and Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Wade was a member of the graduate string quartet at Memphis State University, where she did post graduate studies, including Suzuki Pedagogy with Yuko Honda and Allen Lieb. Other Suzuki trainers she has studied with include Joann Bath, Louise Behrend, and Kimberley Meier Sims. Irene is a recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts.
