Heather Figi (b.1975) began playing the violin at the age of 4 in a Suzuki Violin program led by Alison Lee Jewer in Janesville, Wisconsin. She went onto receive a BM in violin performance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison studying with Professor Tyrone Grieve followed by a MM in violin performance with an emphasis in Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of MD, College Park under the guidance of Ronda Cole. She teaches for the Community Music Institute, A Suzuki Strings program at the University of Oregon, is teacher and director of the Allegro Suzuki Violin Studio in Eugene, Oregon, founder of the Eugene Suzuki Strings Association and director of the Northwest Suzuki Institute.

Her love of music is spread equally over teaching, performing and composing. To date she has created 4 collections of violin music: 178 Ways to Play Perpetual Motion- A Book for Suzuki Violin Teachers and Students, Twinkle: Duets, Trios & Quartets and I Came Here to Play- Music for 4 Violins, Volumes 1 & 2. In addition to composing for children she also has had numerous premiers of her chamber music works performed by the Great Noise Ensemble in Washington, DC.
