As a pioneer Suzuki harp teacher and an SAA Registered Teacher Trainer since 2004, Delaine Fedson has helped to bring Dr. Suzuki’s approach to ever increasing numbers of harpists. Delaine currently teaches at the University of Texas Butler School of Music, Sarofim School of Fine Arts at Southwestern University, and maintains a thriving Suzuki studio in Austin. She holds a B.M. from the University of Northern Iowa, and M.M. from The University of Texas, and studied at the Salzedo School in Camden, Maine. She has been performing with orchestras, opera companies, and chamber groups since 1982, and is a veteran of regional tours with national touring acts. She serves on the Board of Directors of the American Harp Society, Inc., and is one of the authors of the AST publication “A Harp in the Schools.” Delaine is the founding director of the Young Texas Harp Ensemble, a 501c3 organization dedicated to providing access and opportunity for harp study to students of diverse populations, and the founder of the UT Harp Project. She has taught at workshops, festivals and conferences throughout the U.S, Canada, and Italy. Delaine’s students include past winners of the American Harp Society National Competitions and many are active professional performers and teachers.
