Anne Marie Olson is a member of the Suzuki piano faculty of the Music Academy in Rockford, Illinois, where she is also staff accompanist for the Suzuki string program. In June of 2006 she traveled to Japan as accompanist with Music Academy Suzuki string and flute students. Additionally, she teaches and coaches piano and chamber music at the Kankakee Valley Piano Camp. She has taught at Green Mountain Suzuki Institute, Rochester, Vermont; MacPhail Suzuki Institute, Minneapolis, and the Blue Lake Suzuki Camp. She has been guest clinician for the Columbia Talent Education Association in Missouri and the Suzuki program at Northern Illinois University. She completed her Suzuki training in 2007 with Nehama Patkin in Colorado. Her first piano teacher for many years was her father, Bruce Headlee; she currently studies piano with Bruce Berr of Chicago. She was a session presenter at the 2010 Suzuki Conference in Minneapolis. Anne Marie has written articles for Keyboard Companion Magazine, Clavier Companion Magazine, The Suzuki Journal (a tribute to her father in the summer ’07 issue, and several others), and American Music Teacher Magazine. She is a Performing Artist for the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center in Rockford and is pianist for the Jane Addams Trio, in residence at the Music Academy. Anne shares a home with her husband, Charles Olson, two cats, Joey and Dolce, and her dog, Louis. She happily spends every waking moment passionately pursuing her two favorite activities: playing piano and listening to her students play piano.
