Amy Poliakoff, flute, has taught in New England for over 25 years and is currently on the faculty of the Brookline Music School where she is chair of the Suzuki Department. Amy’s Suzuki flute training began when she took a Suzuki Flute Method overview course led by Jerilee Kechley at a winter workshop in Williamstown in 1998 and she has been an advocate of the method ever since. Her formal training includes a Bachelor of Arts from Marlboro College and a Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the Musical Conservatory, College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University. Amy spent eight years living and studying in both France and New England with Marcel Moyse, the master of the French School of flute playing. An advocate of improving arts education in the public schools, Amy also teaches in the “Making Music Matters” program at three Boston Public Elementary Schools. She is the Director of a January Suzuki Flute Winter Workshop that includes ECC, teacher training and many student classes and the Boston Suzuki Flute Institute in August.
