Susan Kempter

Susan Kempter , retired Senior Lecturer at UNM, SAA Teacher Trainer, clinician, author and Interdisciplinary Specialist, created and directed Bachelors and Masters Degrees and a lab school so all UNM students taught from the beginning. Susan is still teaching in her private studio and continues to read and explore about children feeling capable and able to explore on their own.

She is the author of Between Parent & Teacher: A Plan for Nurturing Suzuki Students at Home, and How Muscles Learn: Teaching the Violin with the Body in Mind. *Folk Melodies of New Mexico and the Southwest is yet to be published

She received the ASTA Citation for Leadership and Merit, Studio Teacher of the Year by the New Mexico Chapter of ASTA, the and the Bravos! Award for Music by the Albuquerque Arts Alliance.
