Manuscript Guidelines

Like most professional association journals, the American Suzuki Journal does not offer any compensation to authors, and we do copyright materials published. Usual length of columns, features and many other articles is 1,200 to 2,100 words, though this is variable depending upon the type and format of the material. We accept emailed articles, either included in the body of the message or as attachments and manuscripts on disk or by mail. If articles are sent within an email, an additional copy by mail is recommended. Please include a short bio and author photo with your submission.

Expect a “turn-around time” from submission to decision to publish of 1 to 7 months. Deadlines are December 1, March 1, June 1 and September 1, but we accept manuscripts year-round. The American Suzuki Journal generally follows the Chicago Manual of Style, including documentation style. We reserve the right to edit for conformity with style and usage. If edits are extensive, we will discuss them with you or return the manuscript with suggested changes. When a manuscript/article submission is accepted for use, you will receive a copyright release form by email. This is for your protection and ours as well. There is usually a turnaround time of 1 to 6 months between decision to use materials and actual publication, depending upon the production schedule and other considerations.

Post-publication you will receive complimentary copies of the issue.
