The Chaparral MusicFest Suzuki Academy fills a need within the Southwest community for an affordable Suzuki Institute for violin and piano students. Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp is designed as an opportunity for families to learn and play together following the teaching of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Families stay in rustic cabins on the campus of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the Manistee National Forest in Michigan. Wood chip paths lead the families to the lesson buildings; concerts take place in a covered open air theatre overlooking the lake.
Parent volunteers are an integral part of the Blue Lake experience providing a wide variety of extra activities for parents and students alike. The “Art Barn”, a separate building on camp, is devoted to art activities where the students have the opportunity to delve into art exploration whenever there is a break in the schedule of lessons and practice. There are 4 or 5 different projects to try each day.

Wood chip paths lead the families to the lesson buildings; concerts take place in a covered open air theatre overlooking the lake.
Parent volunteers are an integral part of the Blue Lake experience providing a wide variety of extra activities for parents and students alike. The “Art Barn”, a separate building on camp, is devoted to art activities where the students have the opportunity to delve into art exploration whenever there is a break in the schedule of lessons and practice. There are 4 or 5 different projects to try each day.

The Suzuki Talent Education Program in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada is a non-profit charitable organization which has been part of the St. John’s arts community for over 25 years. Suzuki Talent Education is a music-education philosophy by which teachers and parents help children learn to play an instrument by the same method that they learn to speak their native language. In St. John’s, we have about 100 violin, viola and cello students who follow the Suzuki curriculum; some also learn Newfoundland fiddling or perform in the award-winning junior or senior orchestras. The Greater New Orleans Suzuki Forum has highlighted its year with a Summer Camp for over thirty five years. That is special since even hurricane Katrina did not interrupt our continuity. Through the amazing generosity of the SAA and the donation of instruments and supplies which had been lost in the storm, the year 2005 was an outstanding Institute year for us. Teachers were encouraged to rebuild their studios, although many of their students had left the city. Ronda Cole has been with us through many tears and blessed our teachers with her insight and teaching specialty.
We continue to reach out to the community, training many young students to a high proficiency, equipping them and parents and teachers to do their respective jobs better in music education. New Orleans is such a fountain of music to the whole world. The Suzuki Method is highly developed here as a way of teaching children to play violin, viola, cello, guitar, piano, flute, and bass, and harp. Suzuki teachers are located around the city and participate in the GNO Suzuki Forum yearly events with their students.

Teachers were encouraged to rebuild their studios, although many of their students had left the city. Ronda Cole has been with us through many tears and blessed our teachers with her insight and teaching specialty.
We continue to reach out to the community, training many young students to a high proficiency, equipping them and parents and teachers to do their respective jobs better in music education. New Orleans is such a fountain of music to the whole world. The Suzuki Method is highly developed here as a way of teaching children to play violin, viola, cello, guitar, piano, flute, and bass, and harp. Suzuki teachers are located around the city and participate in the GNO Suzuki Forum yearly events with their students.

The 3rd Annual I AM Festival gives students the opportunity to learn, play and perform in a fun and unique summer camp setting. We invite you and your students to join us in Indy during the first week of August.

What happens during the week?

Every day, students attend lessons and classes. Morning classes (8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) are devoted to core music classes – semi-private lessons, repertoire study, orchestra, music theory, band rehearsals, and sectionals. In the afternoon (1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.), students have the opportunity to take electives—fiddling, jazz, gymnastics, handbells, martial arts, Orff ensemble and visual arts are all available!

During the week, well-prepared students have the opportunity to perform in our 4:00 p.m. recital series. We will also offer a field trip to a nearby park for a performance by local professional musicians.

On Thursday evening, students, faculty, and families participate in our Talent Show and Skit Night!

Friday, all of our ensembles (Orchestra, Band, Jazz, and Fiddling) perform in our final concert. The festival ends with a traditional Suzuki play-in featuring our string students.

The 2012 Desert Suzuki Institute will be enjoying its third year in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are thrilled to offer our SAA flute, piano and violin students, siblings, parents, teachers and trainees this musical experience. Our Pre-Twinkle Camp for ages 3-6 is a 1/2 day program and wonderful introduction to the Suzuki world and music. The Advanced Flute, Piano and Violin Track students are those in Books 5 and up. These special programs are also available to non-Suzuki students who are studying repertoire at the same level as the above. Advanced Track students have a full day schedule which includes a 2-hour block with their mentor. In the afternoon (1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.), students have the opportunity to take electives—fiddling, jazz, gymnastics, handbells, martial arts, Orff ensemble and visual arts are all available!

During the week, well-prepared students have the opportunity to perform in our 4:00 p.m. recital series. We will also offer a field trip to a nearby park for a performance by local professional musicians.

On Thursday evening, students, faculty, and families participate in our Talent Show and Skit Night!

Friday, all of our ensembles (Orchestra, Band, Jazz, and Fiddling) perform in our final concert. The festival ends with a traditional Suzuki play-in featuring our string students.

The 2012 Desert Suzuki Institute will be enjoying its third year in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are thrilled to offer our SAA flute, piano and violin students, siblings, parents, teachers and trainees this musical experience. Our Pre-Twinkle Camp for ages 3-6 is a 1/2 day program and wonderful introduction to the Suzuki world and music. The Advanced Flute, Piano and Violin Track students are those in Books 5 and up. These special programs are also available to non-Suzuki students who are studying repertoire at the same level as the above. Advanced Track students have a full day schedule which includes a 2-hour block with their mentor. We are also offering a Jr. Advanced Flute Track for Flute Books 5 and up for students ages 13 and younger. They will enjoy a Master Class, Jr. Adv. Flute Track Block, Concerto, Repertoire, Ensemble and 1 Enrichment.

The 3rd Annual I AM Festival gives students the opportunity to learn, play and perform in a fun and unique summer camp setting. We invite you and your students to join us in Indy during the first week of August.

What happens during the week?

Every day, students attend lessons and classes. Morning classes (8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) are devoted to core music classes – semi-private lessons, repertoire study, orchestra, music theory, band rehearsals, and sectionals.
