Event Description

The East Tennessee Suzuki Flute Institute is a week-long summer camp for Suzuki student and their families. We strive to bring the spirit of Dr. Suzuki’s inspiration and enthusiasm as well as unfailing belief in every child’s ability to learn to every lesson, every practice, every performance, and every event.

We are honored to have Toshio Takahashi, founder of the Suzuki flute method as our very special Master Teacher this year. He will be working with all of the students every day.

Each student receives the following daily core classes:
Master Class: individual instruction in a class shared by three to five students. Students are asked to play a very polished piece for this class.

Tone and Technique Class a small group lesson in which Suzuki pieces are used as vehicles for acquiring and refining specific skills.

Repertoire Class: Taught this year by Toshio Takahashi, this is a large group class in which Suzuki pieces are polished for group performance.

Additional options include Music Mind Games, Flute Choir, Music Theory, Chamber Music, Orchestral Studies and Suzuki Piano instruction for siblings.

There are many recreational opportunities on campus and in the area.
