SAA Conference 2012: May 24-38 in Minneapolis, MN

NOTE: DEADLINE FOR REGULAR SESSION PROPOSALS HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL NOVEMBER 6 DUE TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS ON EAST COAST.

Dear Colleagues,

The deadlines for 2012 SAA Conference session proposals are fast approaching!

The title of this conference is Forty and Forward. 2012 is the 40th anniversary of the SAA, so we will be celebrating the accomplishments and key figures that have contributed to our current success, as well as looking forward to our continuing pursuit of excellent music education in the future.

The featured themes of the conference will be communication, outreach, and the music of Bach. However, sessions in instrument areas can be on any topic for which you have a passion or particular interest. Conference attendees typically clamor for sessions on pedagogy, technique, and repertoire.

This year we have the opportunity to submit proposals for sessions of various types.

  • The typical 50-minute sessions will still be the mainstay of the conference offerings. These proposals are due online by October 30.

  • New this year will be the opportunity to submit shorter contributions in the form of nano and mini messages of 5 or 12 minutes. Nano and mini proposals are due online by November 15 with a video.

There’s something to appeal to everyone! Please check out the website for complete session proposal details and instructions.

We can’t divulge the details yet, but negotiations are underway with an awesome keynote speaker and a not-to-miss performing group. Factor in your contributions and the Kaleidoscope Concert to this line-up, and we’ll produce the best SAA conference ever!

Please support our Suzuki community by sharing your knowledge and expertise. There is no greater gift you can give to your colleagues. Please encourage your friends to submit proposals, team up on a presentation, or offer a panel discussion.

We are excited to see what you come up with. We are all better together! Thanks in advance for your participation.
