Kamini Bhargava LaRusso

Kamini Bhargava LaRusso has been teaching Suzuki violin since 2001. Kamini enjoys nurturing and teaching Suzuki families of all ages. Currently, Kamini teaches Suzuki Violin Weekly Private and Group lessons at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, MN. In the Fall of 2019, Kamini started Vivace Violins, an advanced violin performing ensemble. Kamini grew up in Madison, WI. She attended Colby College in Waterville, ME, earning a bachelor’s degree in music.  She completed her Masters in Suzuki Pedagogy and Violin performance at the University of Denver, CO. After graduating in 2003, Kamini created a Suzuki Violin program within a public school in Littleton, CO at the Centennial Academy of Fine Arts prior to coming to MacPhail in 2006. Kamini currently plays in the first violin section of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and performs frequently in community performances. She is a Suzuki violin practice partner to her two children.

Carlynn Savot

Carlynn Savot, cellist, teaches and performs in the Twin Cities, where she is on faculty at St. Joseph’s School of Music in St. Paul, the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, and Concordia University – St. Paul. She performs with The Bishop String Quartet and Strains New Music Ensemble and has presented a number of contemporary works in collaboration with their composers, including the commissioned piece Built on Gravel by Ruby Fulton (supported by the Zachs Endowment Fund). Dr. Savot holds performance degrees from St. Olaf College, the University of Hartford, and the University of Connecticut, where her doctoral studies emphasized the work of women composers and gender perspectives in musical analysis.
